NHRA Drag Reunion is Never-Ending Tribute
Old time hot rodders and drag racers are continuing to burn rubber at the annual Hot Rod Reunion. The event started as a one-time thing in 1992, but people loved it and 2014 will be the 23rd year of the event.
It will be held at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, California on October 17-19, 2014
Each reunion features vintage drag racing with some of the most famous and historic cars and drivers. They do it all at the Hod Rod Reunion–Nostalgia Top Fuel, Funny Car, Fuel Altereds, Supercharged Gassers, Classic Super Stock and Hot Rods. The event is sponsored by the Auto Club of Southern California and the Wally Parks Motorsports Museum. Parks was the founder of the NHRA. According to the NHRA:
The HOT ROD REUNION™ is a series of events produced by the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California, and located in Pomona, Calif. The HOT ROD REUNION events are part of the museum’s “living history” philosophy, which works to bring to life the sights, sounds and people who made history in the early days of drag racing, land speed racing and the golden age of American car culture.
Unique among motorsports events, HOT ROD REUNION events honor some of the top names in hot rodding from the past and feature a fabulous array of cool drag cars, street rods and customs of the historic and present-day hot rod eras.
Last year, Butch Leal, Larry Dixon Sr., Tom “the Mongoose” McEwen, and Don “the Snake” Prudhomme were in attendance, with other racing legends who took to the strip.
Reunions are also held in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Epping, New Hampshire. The Kentucky Hot Rod Reunion is now in its 13th year and will be held at the Beech Bend Raceway on June 12-14, 2014. The Northeast event will be held at New England Dragway on Septermber 12-14, 2014.
